Green Tech In The Supply Chain

Within every sector of our daily lives there are opportunities to improve the net impact we have on the environment. The technology we use is no exception but rather the main target. An eco-friendly moniker has been coined ;‘Green Tech’ – which describes greener technology products.

What is Green Tech ?

Green Technology encompasses cleaner energy generation and used in production. Much of the focus is around the use of renewable energy sources.  These alternative fuels and technologies have a less harmful impact on the environment than fossil fuels. Devices which encourage less energy consumption such as heating our homes more efficiently are also of great significance.

Examples of Green Technologies

We feature Green Tech In The Supply Chain which is curated by Green Shopper UK meaning the product or service complies with or conforms to at least one of our agreed pillars of ethical retail for the Green Shopper: Recycled, Fairtrade, Organic, Sustainable …

Are Recycled Products Green ?

Recycled products are an interesting proposition as the first impression could be that the items were not originally produced sustainably. This could give rise to claims of 'green washing' - making misleading or unsubstantiated claims as to how eco-friendly a company or its products are. However reusing or repurposed technology reduces toxic waste going to landfill and the demand for increased manufacturing. Recycled technology and other categories of products effectively make a net positive impact on the environment.

We endeavor to grow our eco-friendly and sustainable content as well as relationships which will include blogs and industry news in addition to products and services in the supply chain.

LED Light Bulbs

LED lighting can reduce electric lighting bills by 90%. Unlike inefficient halogen and incandescent equivalents that are in the process of being phased out, LEDs run cool to the touch, do not overheat and therefore do not need to be replaced as often. On average some LED bulbs can last for 30,000 hours.

Programmable Thermostats

Programmable thermostats have a profound impact on the management of energy used for heating. Regardless of the energy source - gas, electric or renewable, being able to automatically maintain a stable temperature to a schedule that can be customised to an individual or groups requirements and patterns is good for reducing cost and energy consumption.

Electric Vehicles - EVs

Electric Vehicles also commonly known as EVs help to propel us away from polluting (and expensive) fossil fuels such as petrol and diesel. EVs are available in most forms of motorised transport including scooters, bicycles, motorbikes, cars, boats and water based jet boards.
